Materials for Shutters
 |
The Beech River Mill specializes in historic reproductions of shutters. During the 1800's and into the 1900's, millwork shops produced styles that became unique to the region where the mills were located. Louvers, moldings, and panels were fashioned in a variety of shapes and sizes. Thickness and widths of stiles and rails also were varied to establish such regional differences. Our job-specific woodworking equipment allows us to continue to produce any louvered or paneled product you need. Window boxes, shutters for room dividers and other furniture applications are available. |
Materials for Exterior Products
Today we use mainly Spanish cedar for exterior shutters. This species is naturally termite and rot resistant. According to the Nature Conservancy, this species is reported as being widespread, abundant and secure globally. Our product source is derived from environmentally responsible resources. Please see Exterior Shutter Product List.
We will accommodate requests to use other species of wood and will create a product with any size stiles, rails, and louvers you may desire. |

Hardware
 |
The Beech River Mill staff discovered that historically accurate hardware either was not being made or was of poor quality. This has inspired us to develop our own line of reproduction hardware. We also work closely with an ingenious blacksmith to provide our customers with unique and uncommon pieces. Please see our
