422 This hinge is designed to mount shutters hung outside the casing on frame structures. The associated pintle is made of malleable cast iron, a very durable material. We offer the malleable cast iron pintle separately.

423 This style is intended for brick construction. With and extended mounting pintle and hinge width, this hinge set will allow the shutter to swing clear of the face of a brick or masonry structure. The hinge is paired with a fabricated steel pintle. Numerous offsets are available.

406 This New York style hinge was commonly found throughout the country from the late 1700’s through the present day. The material and fabrication processes changed over time, but the appearance of the hinges has gone unaltered. This hinge is available for wood frame and brick installation.

409 and 325 Item #409 Connecticut Style Hinge. This small strap hinge is made of light material and provided with a cast lag screw pintle. No offset is provided with this hinge.
Item #325 Cast Lag

972 Cast Iron Hinge patterns were common from the Civil War era through the Victorian age.

999 Cast Iron Hinge patterns were common from the Civil War era through the Victorian age.

401 These “lift-off” hinges are patterned after early cast iron hinges. We’ve substituted a rolled plate steel for the original casting. The heavy weight of these hinges makes them a good choice when mounting heavy shutters where original evidence indicates a butt hinge application.

405 The “H” style lift-off hinge seems to have been popular during two different periods; around the Civil War, and again following the turn of the century.

701 In Colonial times, strap hinges were hand-forged by blacksmiths and characterized by hand-hammered bevels running along their length.

702 Early in the industrial revolution hardware makers fabricated straps from rolled plate and dropped the hand-hammered bevel as an unnecessary expense.

703 In some areas, shutter straps can be found with the pintle pin embedded in the hinge. Pintles for this type of hinge are identified by the cup into which the pin fits.

705 Simple “storm hinges”, unadorned heavy hinges provides an economical yet functional shutter hinge.
